Children’s Air Ambulance patient Edith celebrates 8th birthday

Former Children’s Air Ambulance patient Edith is celebrating her 8th birthday today with a unicorn-themed barbeque with her family.

“Even the burgers are going to be unicorn-shaped!” she says.

Described by her mum Alex as “a thrill seeker”, Edith was hoping to go to a theme park with a friend for a birthday treat – but that’s now on hold until after lockdown.

“I can’t wait to go as I’m now tall enough to go on all the rides,” she says.

Edith has been enjoying homeschooling with her mum, dad Jeff and older sister Abigail. There have been lots of activities in the garden at their home in Canterbury including a “school trip” to a Roman museum and movie nights.

Edith is also keeping busy planning events for #TheCrew, a club for children linked to the Children’s Air Ambulance. She has already held a Crazy Hair Day at her school and is now hoping to organise a ball once lockdown restrictions are lifted.

In January 2019 Edith needed specialist nursing after an emergency operation to remove her appendix. The Children’s Air Ambulance flew her to a paediatric intensive care unit 75 miles away, where she received the care she needed.
