Children’s Air Ambulance and Evelina Hospital team up to host fun day

The Children’s Air Ambulance and Evelina Children’s Hospital came together on Saturday to host our first ever event, and were delighted when it was amazingly successful.nnOver 2,500 people joined us in the historic venue of Lambeth Palace, London, to raise money and awareness of both lifesaving services. These included CBeebies presenters Chris & Pui, as well as presenter and Evelina paediatric consultant Dr Ranj.nnAside from a slight shower, the weather held out beautifully, making it an amazing day for everyone who stopped by to have fun at our game stalls and view our helicopter.nnEven some of our former patients managed to come to the day.nnJonathan Penny, head of fundraising for the Children’s Air Ambulance, said: “It was a fantastic day. Everyone had a great time – it was lovely to see so many smiling faces.nn”Seeing all those people come together to have fun and raise money for both the Children’s Air Ambulance and Evelina Children’s Hospital was amazing. As we receive no government funding, events like these are absolutely vital to ensure that our service can continue the lifesaving work it carries out. Without our generous supporters, we wouldn’t be able to help save children’s lives across the country.”nnThe South Thames Retrieval Service, a transport service which specialises in the inter-hospital transfer of critically ill children between local hospitals and specialist centres like Evelina London, operates from their Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and means they work closely with our charity.nnTogether we make sure very ill babies and children who need urgent care are treated as quickly as possible.nnThank you to our friends at Evelina Hospital for joining us, to Lambeth Palace for allowing us to use their venue, to the hardworking volunteers who helped on the day, and to everyone who attended and made the event the amazing success it was.nn
