Nationwide Kettering turning unusable cash into charity funds

Nationwide Building Society in Kettering has now installed a collection box to make use of all those unusable coins and notes, which will then be used to raise funds for the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

The collection box, located in the banking hall, has been supplied by specialist cash4coins who take all the donated foreign notes/coins, out of date currency etc and turn this into cash, which is then donated to the chosen charity. Nationwide Kettering has chosen to support Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance as its charity to benefit from the money raised. This follows on from the branch raising over £1,500 for the air ambulance, by competing in the Northampton Dragon boat race in July this year, the team’s fourth year of competing in the event.

Alison Davies, branch manager for Kettering, commented, “This is a fantastic initiative and proving really popular with our customers.  Our box is nearly full already and this is a great way to turn unwanted spare change and foreign currency back into money that can support a great cause like the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.  The branch team at Kettering are very passionate about this charity, and we support them every year at the Dragon Boat Race.  We’re always looking for other ways in which we can help to raise money, and we’re very keen to support this great cause.”

Tracy Grunwell, senior fundraising manager, for Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance commented, “We’re delighted that the Nationwide branch in Kettering have chosen to support us. Their target of £2000 helps contribute to a potential lifesaving mission, and we are so grateful for the staff and customers for their support.

Every mission costs approximately £1,700 and on average we attend six rescue missions a day.
