Sainsbury’s charity of the year

Staff at Sainsbury’s offices at Ansty Park have chosen the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance as their charity of the year.

Workers at the site near Coventry already have a host of exciting fundraising events planned over the next 12 months which will help keep the air ambulance in the sky and saving lives.

Staff in the Property, Land and Development and Telecoms departments are hoping to raise tens of thousands of pounds for the local air ambulance during the year.

Jo Payne, senior fundraising manager for Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, said; ‘’It costs £1,700 for us to fly every lifesaving mission so this support from Sainsbury’s really will be a huge boost for our services.

‘’We don’t get any government funding and rely on the public to keep us flying so being chosen as the charity of the year really is fantastic news.

‘’Without the generosity of local people the air ambulance simply would not exist. ’We are very grateful to Sainsbury’s and we are looking forward to working with them.‘’

Dean Clegg, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said: “Our colleagues are very much looking forward to supporting the air ambulance – we have a track record of wholeheartedly throwing ourselves into all manner of activities in order to raise money for worthy causes such as this.  We personally recognise the value of the service the air ambulance provides and know that our fundraising efforts will make a difference.”

Employees are already planning to take part in the Warwick Fun Colour Rush which takes place on Sept 25. If you want to take part click here .
