Special ASDA shop raises £100,000

One of our shops is celebrating after raising an incredible £100,000 in a single year. Even more amazing than that – the shop managed to raise that money despite only being open for six hours a week.

You’ve probably seen one of our 29 retail stores on your high street or website, but what you likely don’t know is that we run a special shop tucked inside the head office of George at ASDA. This shop is exclusively for George staff, and is stocked entirely by ASDA – usually featuring sample clothing from the fashion designers who work for the brand at a deep discount.

The staff shop had previously been run by George employees themselves. But in April 2013 they offered it to us – if we ran the shop and raised £100,000 we could keep the profits. And as all the clothes sold in the shop are generously donated by ASDA, running costs are ultra-low, and almost all of the money raised can be put straight into saving lives.

This year is the first time in 12 years that the shop has reached £100,000 in annual income. And we are delighted.

The Air Ambulance Service does not receive any government funding. Our lifesaving missions are fuelled by your donations.
